Funny you should mention hybrids.  I read somewhere recently that from start to finish, building a Toyota Prius causes more damage to the environment than does building a Hummer H2.  Our local fire and rescue departments now have to have special training on how to safely work with a hybrid involved in an accident.

Oddly enough, your neighbors to the north in Oregon pay twice as much to register a hybrid as they do to register a conventional vehicle.  Why?  Because hybrids use less gas, and therefore pay less gas taxes.

Sorta makes ya think, don't it?
