Wendi,
  You've gotten a lot of excellent advise and probably don't need more, but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth:
  We've gone the gamut of high tech phone system for 1,000's of $$ to domestic wireless phones for 100's of dollars. It was either over-kill or very poor quality (the panasonic wireless system.) We recently got set up with a local phone sytem called Answer Idaho. I am sure there are many out there that duplicate it. We receive ALL our faxes via email and ALL our voice messaging for each individual employee via outlook too. It is so easy and problem free. I wish I had know about it before. We pay $109.00 per month for 4 lines. Of course we pay our phone company for our lines, but you get so much more for your money and it works like a charm. All of the phone numbers can be forwarded to our cells, home phones or whatever.
  As for phones, we finally went back to the original corded phones that we bought from Qwest.
  We also use internet based QuestExpress for our order/vendor/client management. Everything is automatically scanned into their off site repository. Even my accounting invoices and payments are scanned and stored off site.
  As for accounting software: We started out using QuickBooks when the company was new about 15 years ago. We outgrew that software and bought a sophisticated system called Mas90 for literally 10's of thousands of dollars and paid big bucks for upgrades and technical assistance. It was financially and brain challenged torture for about 6 years. A little over a year ago we went back to QuickBooks for a fraction of the cost, as they have upgraded their software and it is 100% more efficient. We are very happy with that.
