In Connecticut trade slander/libel...product/service disparagement is a violation of a statute that prohibits unfair trade practices. The statute provides for the plaintiff's recovery of double and in some cases triple damages as well as his attorney's fees. The court is guided by the rulings of the FTC. Check to see if Pennsylvania has a similar law. It is my understanding that most states now have similar legislation.
