Nothing will happen until abstractors band together and refuse to do the work.

Unfortunately, the majority is willing to take a paycheck instead of insure their future existence. The squeeky wheel gets the grease and when you have half the abstractors quietly pushing the cart and the others trying to fix it, it will always have the same outcome. Band together, consider Unionizing, get involved, call a congressman, senator, etc and tell them what's happening. I can guarantee the only voice they are hearing is that of the well paid lobbyist from FA, LA etc, etc.
