I remember about a year ago, having this discussion with abstractors at one of the courthouses I do title searches at. Everyone was saying that they were not lowering their fees and everyone looked like they were doing what was best for our business. The people that were tooting their own horn were actually the ones that were doing the title searches for $35 & $40 and claiming to do them for $60 and up. Abstractors in my area are not united, not by a long shot. Everyone is treated as competition and minds their own business. Since the decline of work, we never discuss pricing and clients.
