there is actually a feature built into the software where you can park your license back on their server and retrieve it later (deactivate license - found under the help pulldown); I use this a lot to switch between my surface and desktop and we have also started having issues with power surges and since I had my desktop power supply fried twice, I deactivate after each use... when you go back in after deactivating you have to enter the license id you got at purchase and your password -- very simple process
