Wow...that sounds like fun. Christmas Eve was always a bigger occasion in my family than Christmas Day. My Grandmother would be preparing days in advance....the creamed onions being one of her specialties. Although on one memorable occasion I can remember having Chinese food. Being from an Irish family we all did a bit of drinking on the Eve. Christmas Day was for hangover recovery, and we normally went out to dinner.
Glad you were able to find a clam monger. Bet they are expensive out there. I remember living in Chicago during school, and how expensive seafood was when they had to ship it in. I have always enjoyed living near the ocean, and missed it terribly when I was in Chicago. I used to go to the Brookfield Zoo just to inhale the salt water smell from the walrus tank. Bet you miss the stuffed mussels and fried calamari.
