Tammy honestly the best business advice I can give is that I found the SOT and secured a space for my company here. I had to get E&O just as a matter of securing business and I keep in touch with everyone who contacts me for business even if they choose someone else cheaper. It is tough at first but my contacts with every Attorney I have ever done work for or have known has helped. I contacted them and asked them to refer someone to me to contact. Another secret is I picked up one of our local paralegal handbooks and started calling everyone and asked.....
1.) Do you deal in Real Property?
2.) Does your company use independant contractors? (No, Yes and Yes, but we already have someone that we use.)
3.) Would you mind if I sent you my information?  (Just in case you need  some extra help in the future?)
4.) Keep a record of everyone you spoke to, their contact info, the date, the time and there response. Contact them regularly (every 6 months) things change just like employees. Call or send out reminders about you and your services periodically.
If you get a positive answer e-mail it right over! Fax copies tend to suck and get thrown away, but e-mails you can retrieve at a later date if necessary. If you get a negative response then if you still want to make the effort, send a letter and your information directly to the attorney in charge. This by-passes most of the paralegals who think they make the corporate hiring decisions. Unfortunately many do.
Best wishes and make lots of money!!!!
