I really can't say what my fees are for current owners because it depends on the company. Some companies will pay me $50 plus copies and some will pay me $75. I am lucky in one aspect because I do not have to depend on the national vendor companies for the title work.
I am doing some tax sales for an attorney right now, he pays me $100 (an doesn't blink). He wants a current owner with copies of all deeds back 40 years and judgments done only on the current owner. I have done 18 for him this week. So, when the companies call and throw the $35 bone to me, I decline. I don't really care to work for people that do not care about the abstractor. And, if they are paying $35 for a current owner, they do not care about you. People, don't fool yourself. There are people out there that will pay more. You just have to prove to them that you are worth it. Absolute Property and Express Financial were notorious for giving a pauper's pay. They have reaped what they have sown.
