Robert: I just have to jump in here and once again say that is has very little to do with the "on line" systems-but rather on how up to date the assessment and taxing departments are for the respective counties. Here in Virginia, the impose a supplemental tax bill for any improvements that are created  during the year that is payable in December of that year- if it falls after that it is carried to the next year, but we are made aware of the possibility by way of the assessment sites. A long time ago we had those often forgotten "extra" tax books to look at- but have not had them in years, all the delinquent tax information is now included with the current assessments. All of that is a testament to the Dept. of Tax admin. for getting all of their information together .
