That's exactly right. My parents were born and raised in east Tennessee, where the original Moonpie is made. When Daddy would regale us kids with tales of courting our Mama, he'd mention that they would share an RC (Cola) and a Moonpie after a movie.

A Whoopie Pie is basically the same thing, as is the Scooter Pie.
