I think some have mis understood the real question here- a number of lenders now want to "see" a 24 month chain of title along with what ever you are providing- even if it is a 60 year search- they don't have a clue how a title search is done, or how to read it for that fact- so they want to see some kind of easy to read listing of the ownership for the 24 month time period from present back- now what they do with it is anyones guess- might just be that someone somewhere  also asked for that- and they are just passing it along- but no matter- a 24 month chain is just that- not a title and has no other meaning-it certainly does not have any effect on the title you are doing along with it. At least this is my experience with the request for a 24 month chain-there might be other far reaching reasons- but , since it is usually a lender created request- probably no other reason at all. ( and a true waste of time too)
