Wow- 96 pages of Federal Register to explain the "simplified version" of the new, improved HUD-1- no wonder it takes so long for Washington to get anything done- they have to write a book before they can do anything or in this case- , simplify it.
The fees charged on lines 1102 and 1103 on the old HUD-1 were specifically for title abstract and examination- they were not supposed to be altered or added to in anyway- that constituted a kickback or padding of the fees , which is a section 8 violation-since no "core title services" are being completed in association with those additional fees- it is also called "embezzlement"- something that seems to be relatively common with the venders, just not all that often enforced, unless pointed out to HUD. There seem to be plenty of lines available for the VM's to list there their additional fees- so let them do that- just leave our lines alone and unchanged. It kind of forces some real honesty on there for a change.
