Although a lot of the posts lately have been negative, I cannot deny that it has been beneficial to read - albeit a little depressing. Our company is also still strong and as other abstractors go under and forclosures increase we are getting new clients ... and I search EVERY ONE OF THEM on this forum.
I think one of the difficulties facing us is that we are involved in a rather archiac industry. As the computer age sweeps the globe we are still often flipping through the handwritten pages of some dusty tome in the clerk's basement. Overseas competition and searchable online databases are the future of our industry, and like it or not we will all be dragged (many kicking and screaming) into the 21st century - that includes the clerks and the courthouses too.
We all have to change and adapt and it is difficult and not everyone will do it. This is the life we have chosen :-)
