Michael:
It is always my pleasure to reply- in the counties that I do work in- the indexes can be printed- so , if I find an error- I always shoot a copy for my file, and then make what ever notation to the clerk's office about the problem and what needs to be fixed- that way I have the documentation of the corrections, and the clerks are required to make notations with their initials also showing who made the correction and the date- all becomes part of the indexes permanent entry. There can never be a statement that "all" of the mistakes have been found- just not part of our nature to be mistake free- that is why we have to be sure to keep track of what and when we do work on line- or in the Court house, for that fact- things can and do change- indexes get corrected and documents change- all part of the reason for all the disclaimers that all of the clerks post about their respective documents-
ID theft did not start with on line systems- and will not end with them either- there is a much greater chance of your ID being stolen from your local bank, restaurant or trash container- I personally have had my bank cards replaced three times just from breaches at retail stores being discovered after a visit- nothing was directed at my accounts- just a general discovery of a breach in the security at those places- which is "no security" basically- anyone that works in those places can steal ones ID - just pull the information off the credit invoice or transaction.
I can see that there is a need for concern about the security of the on line systems- but- that is not my job- I leave all that up to the respective counties and their expert or professional consultants to deal with that- I am just a title examiner that enjoys doing what I do and how I do it, so do the people and companies I do it for.
