So you are looking back almost 30 years to his high school days in support of your accusation of drug addiction. You need someone to write you some new material. Got anything more recent than this ancient history?
Actually, Kev, it was you who opened the door to the past when you made that "beauty queen" remark. Either the past matters or it doesn't...you can't have it both ways.
We have National Guard units in Connecticut now serving in the Iraq debacle. Some of them are serving second and third tours of duty. Governor Rell of Connecticut really has nothing to say about their deployment.
Wrong answer. The Supreme Court has ruled that state governors have the right to reject federal deployment of state guard troops if they can prove that such deployment significantly affects the state guard's ability to carry out its state activities. Perpich v. Department of Defense, 496 U.S. 334 (1990). In fact, I seem to remember Governor Schwarzenegger of California refusing such a request from President Bush for a troop deployment to the Mexican border, citing concerns about jeopardizing the state's safety in the wake of the wildfires that were burning at the time.
No one is advocating the overthrow of the government. Can you point to someone in particular that has that has advocated this, or is it simply anyone that chooses not to buy into the right wing rhetoric?
Yeah, I can name three: William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn and Frank Marshall Davis.
In terms of demonizing anyone how do you explain McCain's ridiculous commercials comparing Obama to Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears?
It's a fair comparison, seeing as how Obama had those cheesy Greek columns set up by the same outfit that designs stages for Britney Spears' concert tours.
Ultimately he will rely on his cabinet for advice as would any president before making a major policy decision....not unlike Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis which you reference.
Most presidential historians regard President Kennedy as being much like George W. Bush...both widely perceived as being "cowboys", having little foreign policy experience and being seen by their critics as incompetent. Some have even said it was Kennedy's mishandling of the Bay of Pigs invasion that set the stage for the Cold War over the next 30-odd years. His handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis certainly didn't win him (or the U.S.) any friends on the world stage.
