So you are looking back almost 30 years to his high school days in support of your accusation of drug addiction. You need someone to write you some new material. Got anything more recent than this ancient history? Now let's talk about things that matter. Let us not forget that Senator Obama went on to graduate from an Ivy League university...went on to graduate Harvard Law as an esteemed member of its Law Review...meteoric rise through Illinois legislature...then on to the U.S. Senate at a very young age. I think that is a rather impressive record.
We have National Guard units in Connecticut now serving in the Iraq debacle. Some of them are serving second and third tours of duty. Governor Rell of Connecticut really has nothing to say about their deployment. I would have to think that the same would be true of the Air National Guard units also. While each governor commands its Air national guard, I doubt seriously that you are going to see any of them mounting a defense to a foreign threat independent of federal oversight. Governor Palin has never had that experience...nor is she ever likely to in her capacity as governor.
No one is advocating the overthrow of the government. Can you point to someone in particular that has that has advocated this, or is it simply anyone that chooses not to buy into the right wing rhetoric? Right wingers drive me crazy with their conspiracy theories. Yes, the "Days of Rage" did last for several years, but none the less that was name by which the period was known. Odd that you should compare the recent Republican Convention to the violence of the 1968 Democratic Convention. The was my thought also. I remember how a disorganized Democratic Party made it easier for Nixon to instill confidence among the electorate, and then go on to become the only U.S. president to resign amidst scandal and the necessity of a presidential pardon.
I do not think the liberals, democrats or anyone else have had to demonize Bush. He has done an excellent job of doing that for himself. He is grossly unpopular. I saw a political analyst earlier this week indicate that he will probably go down in history as one of the 10 worst presidents we have had. Why do you think McCain is trying to distance himself from him? In terms of demonizing anyone how do you explain McCain's ridiculous commercials comparing Obama to Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears? Do you really think that appealed to anyone? If anything it would have driven me into Obama's camp.
Yes, I do think Obama picked Biden to placate the critics of his foreign policy background. I also note that on his recent tour of the European Union he was warmly received by most if not all of the heads of state with whom he met. Sounds like a pretty good start to reversing Bush's image. Ultimately he will rely on his cabinet for advice as would any president before making a major policy decision....not unlike Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis which you reference. Insofar as change is concerned I have not yet heard it from the Grand Old Party.
