Your father sounds like a wise man... I often have the taste of "foot" in my mouth.  But, I don't think your comment was "stupid."  Rather, it shows that direct operations will likely dominate the Colorado market for a while.  I'm not really a fan of direct operations - I don't think the industry is best served by underwriters competing with their agents.  This is especially true when the underwriter is cancelling agents for not generating enough premiums - *cough* First American *cough*.  How does that make sense?
"We are opening an office to compete with you... and, by the way, your remittances are looking a little weak."
But, in this case, I understand that First American has to compete with Fidelity now and independent agents are likely going be "collateral damage."
