...from believing hoax poll numbers, but let me point out the obvious... these "internal poll numbers" were "leaked" to the public, right?  Once that happens, they are no longer "internal", and the assertion that they "have no reason to lie to themselves" no longer applies; they most certainly do have a motivation to lie to their supporters so that they will get out the vote rather than abandon a hopeless cause.
