These are great replies. I am especially in agreement with Helene's wish that legal names be used on legal documents. It would save a whole bunch of time for so many people. That starts with getting the grantee's name right on the deed.
I guess, though, if a judgment is made in absentia, the legal name of the judgment debtor may remain a mystery. How do you card a guy if he doesn't show up?. If the last name is uncommon, it's probably a good idea to run the first initial with it. As for nicknames, run the names 'Scooter' and 'Junior' and you have probably got it covered. I am kidding about the last sentence, ha ha.
