I voted as well already. It was exciting to have my baby, who just turned 18 at the end of October, to vote with him in his first election. As on this board, there have been many political discussions around the dinner table. He asked me, right before we went in, if I have any advise for him. I told him to vote his convictions, regardless of any one else's opinion. I too was a liberal ready to save the world at 18. Reminds me of when my oldest got her first job and saw her net paycheck. She was 16 and declared herself to be an anarchist since she felt it was "unfair" to have taxes taken out of her check. Now, at 21, she has more understanding of how the world works.
Here too in rural/suburban Minnesota (just north of the Twin Cities), there was not too long a line - usual for after work, but this was at 9:30 am. My sister in law just pased the polls and said there were absolutely no parking spaces and they were parking on the road.
The only thing I truly hope that comes from this election is that more of the eligible voters actually go out and vote rather than the less than 50% that traditionally go to the polls.
