Thanks Robert. I appreciate your follow up and stand corrected in my naivety. I don't know anyone personally that has had their identity stolen but I am sure it is horrible. I guess I never really thought of it that way and I suppose if I was a criminal with nothing else to do and all the time in the world on my hands....yeah, I suppose I could take on a tedious task like that.
When we stumble upon SS# in other counties we call right away to notify them of the record instrument number so they can fix it or whatever they do.
So, do the counties go thru and wipe out the numbers and then put them back on viewable status? Franklin Co. keeps saying that eventually they will have them back online at some point but I am not holding my breath - It’s been 2 years now I think. It just sucks to have to pay for copies of things I could print off myself. I think that is my biggest beef with the whole thing - more money spent on crap we have no control over.
I had a case today where I couldn't view the recorded Power of Attorney - thought that was weird. Of course the county blew me off stating there must be SS#'s showing on it but he would check it.
