That would be a nice way to get paid.  As an abstractor, I think it would be nice to be able to send an email to a client and say, "your search is done, click here to pay for it and download the report."  That would certainly cut out a lot of the problems that we all seem to have.

However, I wonder how receptive the clients would be.  I would think that it would take a lot of extra time for them to have to process payments for each order at the time they receive it.  And, if not everyone requires such cumbersome procedures, I would think that it would just be easier for them to move to the next abstractor on the list who is willing to wait for their money.  Just as there are a lot of abstractors willing to work cheaper, there will always be those who would be willing to work on credit (probably even more).

I also would be hesitant to put my good clients through such a rigorous process.  I suppose you could pick and choose which clients you are going to subject to "instant payment" but it seems like a hassle. 

I think it is good that some of these options are being explored.  Maybe one day, something similar will become the norm.  I have a hard time imagining that, though.
