I may be wrong but my understanding of Ellen's situation is that the client is requesting the survey field notes of the subject property.  I have only been working as a title examiner for a title company for about 10 years and then started to do title searches for those who need it.  Sometimes, but very rarely, does my clients request the field note description of the subject property.  However, I always provide a copy of the last vesting deed in the chain of title, and that usually has the field note description of the land.  I haven't had any requests in the last year for fied notes of any land that I had performed searches on.  But if requested I usually try to comply.
