You are NOT wrong- this company has been written up here on SOT- ( I am not sure if SOT was promoting or just reporting) it looks like exactly what  you described-
I looked them up at their web site and it appears as though they undercut the local abstractors and then use them to do the work they are able to get or steal away with the cheap fees.
I would stay far away from them.
