I've also had TIAC for several years and my premium is also u/$1500 for $1m/$2500 deductible. I believe the premium is based on your income. I also have to pay the $225 ALTA dues but that is cheaper than the $460 they charged me for a couple of years. They didn't use to tell you if your income was u/$200k that the dues were cheaper. I found out from another abstractor and complained. I suppose many did because they now notify you of the reduced fee. I believe when I first signed up I also had to pay $100 for 1 share of the company - a one time charge. One year I actually got a little dividend check. Anyway, I have found TIAC to be the most reasonable & the coverage is good. The people are friendly and helpful when you call. I like the "Certificate of Insurance" they send. W/the dues payment, you are listed in the ALTA directory which this yr. will now be available only online. (They used to print a directory). I've actually gotten a couple of leads from that. Other than that, I have nothing to do w/ALTA as I am just an abstractor and they are not geared to people like me.
