"If you are paying more in taxes this year...you must be earning in excess of $250,000.00, and can afford it under our progressive tax structure.."
Kevin, this is the thinking that makes my blood boil. Just because I can afford the purposed higher tax doesn't make it right. It's redistribution of wealth, plain and simple. I already pay more taxes than most. How is this fair? I was living out of my car 10 years or so ago. I fought and suffered to get where I am. For all of my fighting and struggling I am penalized now for it.
As far as your disagreement of class structure, I guess it's simply a matter of relativity. What you refer to as the "spending class" is in fact one of the classes. You can break it down and catagorize it however you choose. Haves, have nots. Upper, lower, etc etc. What is not acceptable is when my dollars go to prop up a lesser earning class for the mere reason of socialism.
The fact remains that albiet everyone is entitled to the same opportunity, they are not however entitled to have me pay for it, which is exactly what the current administration is proposing. I don't want to support drive through abortion clinics. I don't want to support universal healthcare. As harsh as it may sound, healthcare is a luxury, not a right. If you disagree with that, then I suggest you move to Cuba, France or England.
America is dead as we know it. Hard work doesn't pay off anymore. Doing the "right thing" labels you as a sucker and dooms you to failure. How many examiners here cut corners to increase work flow? How many examiners and agents sacrificed their own professionalism and pride to make a buck? Not many. So for their efforts of maintaining their integrity, they are now suffering. That is unacceptable.
