George, I really don't mind the jab since I do not hold the Democratic Party in any higher esteem than the Republican Party. The current two party system sucks. That is why I am registered as an Independent. Possibly a multiple party system and proportional representation would be better. To some degree we already have it with the example set by Joe Lieberman [Senator from Connecticut) who ran and was elected as an independent when the Democratic Party dumped him in the last Senatorial election for Connecticut. Maybe we need more of the same to incorporate shades of difference in the voice of the people with respect to their elected officials. Unfortunately it is often a question of funding for third party candidates.
Although we currently have a Democratic administration...I am all for its programs. The Bush administration failed miserably and left the incoming administration with the worst nightmare since the 1929 crash. I like the proposed reversal on funding of stem cell research and the stimulus to re-spark the economy. God knows the hands off deregulation of the Bush administration failed completely.
If you are paying more in taxes this year...you must be earning in excess of $250,000.00, and can afford it under our progressive tax structure..
With respect to establishment of class regidity...I would have to disagree. The American system has been (and the legal system agrees) that an individual is entitled to all the gain that he is legally able to secure to himself. The formal class system of decades past has fallen by the wayside. The amount that someone earns and his/her ability to spend has created the new class structure. That ability is firmly within the control of the individual.
