There are indeed companies that do only taxes in this state, but there is no such law here (wish there was.....)  Taxes are the biggest pain in the ass in Michigan (and I'm sure the Michiganders out there will agree with me!)  The amount of misinformation that is given to us is downright embarassing.  I would love to refuse to do taxes, but we would lose all of our clients.  Frankly, I think any time a refi is done, it should be up to the BORROWER to prove that property taxes have been paid!  If all the title companies would agree, it would save everyone tens (maybe hundreds) of thousands of dollars worth of mistakes.
