Question:  (I'll try to base this on something that could possibly happen here in Michigan....)

One of my subcontractors misses delinquent taxes to the tune of $10,000.  She says that she was told by the township treasurer that all taxes were paid.  (Yes, this happens constantly .... we even have a disclaimer re verbal information).  Client says we're liable and wants to put in a claim.  I say we're not and refuse.  What can they do about this?  Is a lawsuit the only way for them to force the issue?
