I disagree whole-heartedly Melinda. I started to use Facebook as a social networking tool.  I found most of my old friends from kindergarten through 12th grade, some college friends, some military friends, business associates, co-workers & ex-co-workers, and friends I have met traveling. I now have over 30 people in my network who I now work with, do work for or they do some type of work for me. Lawyers, doctors, Real Estate Professionals from Realtors to Insurers to landlords, landscapers, housekeepers, mechanics, plumbers, This has expanded even further to include some "friends of friends" too.

Initially I set up my co. as a user but then I learned about "Groups". I created my own "Group" (you can find it by searching "Grand Info, Inc.") where I notify my friends of what is going on with my companies, however, I do not use it as a direct marketing method. Shouldn't my friends know what I do for a living and shouldn't I know what they do?

Yes it is a great social networking tool but aren't some of those "friends" part of your business network as well?

Why limit its usage, when it can to be all-encompassing. When I need an electrician, I turn to my Facebook network first and in return when my friends need someone in my field or is looking for a referral, they contact me.

I used to use my social network before Facebook, why would I stop now? I think FB is a great tool for social and business relationship development.

Robb
