Not sure you need to retire Alix but maybe a vacation would be in line for you.  This sort of makes me think of Criminal/Civil cases from what I remember of paralegal training.  Would there be a way to pursue them thru civil channels?   I am not an attorney but I seem to remember something about civil law and that it is supposed to addresses situations in which people have been harmed, and an economic award might help remedy the situation.  Take for example OJ - found not guily of murder in the criminal case but yet he lost the civil case brought by Ron's family.  So now he is supposed to be paying the huge settlement.  Similar in a way but not really, but it is the best I could come up with at the moment.

The point is that just because one section of the law protects you (from the example given it comes down to preponderance of the evidence in civil cases which is how they won it) another may not.  The rules or evidence are a bit different on criminal cases vs. civil cases and if I can recall what I learned about Tort Law it differs too.  But, it is the same sort of thing here in my humble NON-ATTORNEY opinion, maybe you could look at another avenue, something more on the civil side.

From my research I have found real definitions for Corp., LLC, Partnerships so it may depend on how the title co was set up.  See www.nolo.com legal glossary as I am not sure I should copy and paste the defs here.  :)
