I have heard rumors through one of the recorders that a couple smaller counties (short on money) were also charging the extra $20 because their county auditors stamp font was too small on all deeds.  I know some counties are very strict on this, but to charge the extra $20 when THEIR STAMP does not meet the standards (which is applied AFTER the document is prepared - another argument in this mess) . . . I guess I should be beyond being shocked anymore!  I think the worst thing about this is many of the out of state title companies don't quite "get" the new standards and then choose to take their frustrations out on me.  I understand they were trying to do a good thing here, but its really turned into a nightmare if you want to record something.  Also many are quick to jump on the extra $20 fee, even if the document is dated before the rules came into effect.  More than once I have had to point out this out . . . only to have them be like "darn! almost got that extra $20!"  *sigh*

P.S.  I want an overlay too!!!!  LOL!
