I'm going to call them Monday. The "insane" quote you got for $1,800 for $250K/$250K is what I've been paying for the last 3 years. Actually, it went up to $2,000 last year because of an  "increase in claims" (according to them). A little research revealed that the increase in claims was in the area of appraisals, not title examination, but they raised our premiums anyway.

I hope I can get a more reasonable policy through this company. It's a huge amount to pay for a really shallow policy with a high ($5,000) deductible. I don't mind naming names. I get it through Title Pac, and the underwriter is Zurich Direct.
