Hi Monica,
I know the rewarding feeling you get when you can do something like that for an animal. I rescued a pup two years ago....a Shepard/Grey Hound mix. He has adopted our home as his, and does not hesitate to let everyone know that it is his place. When we first got him he was very timid, and suffered from separation anxiety. He hated to be left alone. He had been neglected by his previous owners, and you could see his ribs and backbone from starvation. He had been in the shelter for a month when I adopted him. They had been trying to fatten him up, but had to give him several small meals a day because his stomach had shrunken. Two years later ... and he is now well adjusted and a wonderful friend.
