I have no clue where these come from but my daddy always used to say:

"Don't take any wooden igloos/nickles"  - he would change it up every now and again.

"Your Daddy wasn't a window maker, now move out the way"

and my fav.  "Don't start what you can't finish" and "always check both barrels before shooting off your gun"
