That's absolutely true, and it was one of the big reasons they lost their majority.  However, I also believe that a lot of what we're seeing (from BOTH sides) is political theater.  It reminds me of the poker game where two of the players collude to start a "fight" amongst themselves, and just when you think they're going to come to blows, a third party says something to them that calms them both down.  That's when you know the game is rigged.
