I'd like to point out the Republicans made no effort to advance their health care reform proposals when they had the ball. In that light, it is easy to recognize their 2009 "reform" proposals for what they are-- nothing more than political theater. There was no good faith negotiation by the Republicans to attempt to get some of their priorities reflected in the bill in return for their votes for the bill. The Republican strategy from the start has been to defeat any and all health care reform at all costs to deny Democrats anything that could be perceived to be a legislative victory.
