"Life isn't fair" - I'm sure you have heard that before.  We all deal with competition that isn't "fair."  It doesn't matter if it is competition with the government, or another private company that is breaking rules that you can't (or won't).  If the government is as inept as you think, it won't really be much competition for hardworking American businesses. I hardly think it will put the traditional insurers out of business.

As for the Republican efforts, you are right - they have put forth some suggestions, I guess.  But, I haven't been impressed.  They don't seem to accomplish much and I think they are even less likely to accomplish the goal of getting more Americans covered than the Democrats' ridiculous bill.
