Well, Scott... it is good to see you admit that health care is a necessity. But, for many people I'd argue that driving is a necessity in the same maner as health care. Sure, there are some that can manage without driving, but I think those are the minority by far. For most of us, we wouldn't be able to get to work without a car. I can't imagine trying to be an abstractor without being able to drive to the counties we cover.
And, for those that driving is a necessity, they must have coverage... for those for whom health care is a necessity (which you admitted it was), they should have to have health insurance.
I don't think you are quite right about the preventative care issue, either. People have to have auto insurance to protect the rest of us from incuring expense if we are hit by someone without insurance. The same logic can apply to health insurance because when people get medical services without insurance, the rest of pay for it through higher premiums.
