The only way to gain some bargaining power is to organize them into some legally acceptable unit to get around the ati-trust laws. This means a union or possibly organizing a corporation to which the abstractions buy in as shareholders.
Both of these options have been discussed numerous timesin the past. The abstractors bigest problem is apathty. getting them to get off their asses to do anything is next to impossible. they are their own worst enemy. They would much rather complain, write off losses or send out calls for expensive class action suits. They never stop consider that a union can be whatever the membership wants it to be. Most of them look to examples like the Teamsters, United Steel Workers or the UAW. The union's by laws/charter can set the terms of membership to suit the needs of the membership.
Until they are willing to organize into some system...they will continue to be victimized.
