I've been reading up on the healthcare system in Singapore. Although I'm not sanguine about single-payer systems generally, it's been said that Singapore's healthcare model is among the most successful in the world. As I understand it, they utilize a system of user fees to keep costs in line. Bryan Caplan wrote about it in his blog at EconLog about a year ago, and looking at the numbers, it seems like a workable proposal.
