I agree with your reply to this question. In the meantime, I am surprised by the number of people who believe their clients can't file a claim with their E&O carriers without thier knowledge. It happened to me. My attorney said it is not illegal, only unethical. I am in Michigan....I wonder if this is legal nationawide? The underwriter requesting the full copy of the policy is a huge, nationwide company. They aren't asking the policy be sent to them, they are requesting the title company keep it on file. I don't have a problem with it. As you stated, once they have the dec page or certificate, there's not much else in there that makes any difference. That does make one wonder why they would even go to the trouble, but still doesn't raise any red flags for me.
