I agree that being listed on the HUD-1 does put us in a much better position, although it might also create some problems with the settlement and closing companies , as they pad or increase the title fees to gain one more way to make(steal) money. The new HUD-1 might not allow for duplicate entries for the "title or abstract" , which is where these "honest" companies add to the title fees-while adding to the title fee, without doing any core title work, is a section 8 violation- they don't seem to worried about any consequences so they continue to add to the title fees we invoice. This might make it hard to convince the settlement company to list our fees on the HUD-1 - then how are we to know it is actually being done- have them e-mail a copy to us? Lots of hurdles to overcome just to insure we show up on the HUD.
Just keep these things in mind when getting listed- I have always been listed on the HUD and it has saved me once in 30 years, but well worth it.
