In Connecticut small claims judgments are good for ten years and superior court judgments are good for twenty years. If you were not able to determine whether the judgment had not expired you were right to report it. The disposition of it is the title holder's concern.

Generally when you win a case you lien everything the judgment debtor has...real estate and both tangible and intangible personal property. In addition to recording a judgment lien in the land records it is customary to also file a judgment lien with the Secretary of State's Office to lien personal property. Check the UCC /lien registry of the Secretary of State also. It is usually required that the lien include the court docket number to identify the case.
