My policy has always been that sharing losses makes me a de facto partner in their firm and as a paralegal in North Carolina, I'm not allowed to enter into a partnership with a lawyer. i feel the same way about title co's or mortgage brokers. Most of my 'no pays" have been a result of the same type of firm you describe, the REO resale of foreclosed properties. Good luck!
