History is misused a bunch.  For example, with cherry-picking and the proper spin, it is possible to say argue that Obama's health care reform bill takes us down the path to Hitler's brand of fascism. 

Every developed country on earth has some level of government regulation in the health care system-- many systems have adopted systems far more socialist than ours, even after the passage of this bill.  Yet the vast majority of these countries remain stable, liberal democracies, often with a healthier, longer-living population than we have.
