In my experience, especially with Commercial Searches. I find that it helps to reach out to other abstractors in other states and share the work. At one time I covered all of California, Parts of Florida, New Mexico, Hawaii and a few other states. New Mexico seems to work at a bit of a slower pace and many of the properties (land) are leased rather than fee title. They are very nice to work with but I found the time I put in it was not always worth the payoff. I started in the title Industry in California my senior year of high school (a long time ago) So I am not as seasoned in other states. I did work for a title company in Arizona for a bit before returning to California so that was helpful. I like sharing the work because it helps us all to be successful. That doesn't mean you can't do other states. We are pretty luck to have a forum here where we can share information. It all would depend on what you are comfortable doing and familiarizing yourself with other States. Personally, I will do little projects in other States for a special customer. But, nothing big and certainly not Full Searches.
