Didn't comment on Geithner post of George's as I didn't read it. I try to keep mostly to the abstract and land related topics as a matter of time and efficiency. Woulda been happy to make that case, as my views and perspective tend toward the above. As often as not, I find myself proven right when it comes to not passing judgement before all the facts are aired. As my opinion goes in this instance, I am erring on the side of the accused as you are assuming that all facts reported are exactly as they appear in print. As a real credentialed journalist for over 2 decades, I can certainly attest that this is almost never the case. This is demonstrated recently in cases involving the BofA lawsuit against First American, as I've posted here myself.
A great example in our local news last week was the guy spotted in a local park where kids were at play. He was using a cell phone and said to be taking pictures of kids. The mothers at the park were abuzz and one took a photo of him. My wife found it creepy. The police tracking him down. He was a jogger who allowed police to inspect his computers, phone and home. He was using a feature on his phone to time his jog and check his pulse rate. Naturally, he was jogging through the park with no kids of his own in tow. This was reported in such a way as to feed into the paranoia and panick of our modern society.
My question to you is this: are you sure that this guy is a crook? You've made up your mind. I've not and feel that I would make a fairer judge and juror than you in this case. You've got a right to your opinion and to express it freely, but, as I always say, "free speech begets more free speech" (however popular or unpopular either may be).
Unless you personally know the guy and were an insider as to these matters, I'll take your view under consideration and with a grain of salt, choosing to stick with innocent until proven guilty as a better way of life.
It doesn't mean that I don't exercise caution and good decisionmaking in commerce; I do not seek him out to do business with the guy, nor would I do so if he approached me; this is common sense as the exercise of your private duty and Rights.
