Interesting debate. I am torn on which side to take. In general MOST Americans have become lazy and complacent. There are scores of incompetant people out there and some how they seem to get the promotions. Many of us in this industry have become lazy and complacent with the way it works. AfBA and offshoring are ruining the independent title agencies and I am sure this crosses over to examiners and appraisers. Everyone remembers the "list" right....the appraiser lists the lenders used. These were full of people "approved" by the lender.
Sometimes our moaning and groaning is just that. We are at our wits end and have not a clue on where to go for assistance or how we can help. Newly formed Associations, like OAITA and others, are making real progress but it takes time unfortunately.
We have all been cheated and scamed or not paid and yes that makes a person "distrustful and antagonistic". Deals can't be made over a handshake anymore. That time just doesn't exist any longer. George in MI and I have had many discussions in the past and I have not always agreed with him but alot of what he says rings true. George in OH - his father is a great example of how life was. You worked hard and got rewarded. Now many think - how can I make the most for me while doing the least amount possible. It is sad but true. The participants that blog and comment on this website are hard working and honest - another rare quality in life. Raised by hard working, moralistic parents that tought us what comes around goes around. Unfortunately, as my Daddy always said...."Life aint Fair. The quicker you learn that baby the better off you will be." I took it to heart and never said it again. Honesty and morals don't seem to exist in this world anymore.
How many times have we been shut down by the very same agencies and elected officials that were supposed to help us? Independents in many industries have had to form association and create a big enough stink to even get noticed. Our system at its finest. Ye who holds the ulmighty dollar controls the world. I am not sure how Obama gets blamed for this crises as it was well before he took office and having to check the dates - was he even in any political office then?? Clinton had a hand in this mess and so did the Bush's so to blame it all on Obama who got handed a dirty bag of laundry is not exactly fair....oops but there is that word again.
